Newton Johnson Family Vineyards – Characterful Wines And Panoramic Views

Characterful, vibrant Chardonnay and spicy, berry rich Pinot Noir.

Home to characterful, vibrant Chardonnay and spicy, berry rich Pinot Noir. Here, award-winning wine is produced and showcased with picturesque, sweeping views over the Babilonstoring mountains and the Hemel-en-Aarde valley, to the ocean in the distance.

About Newton Johnson Family Vineyards

Dave and Felicity (Nee Newton) Johnson developed the vineyard in 1995. Currently, this family vineyard is under the stewardship of their sons Gordon and Bevan. The husband and wife team of Gordon and Nadia have capably taken over as winemakers.

The ideal elevation on the slopes of the Hemel-En-Aarde valley between 150 and 300m above sea level allows the vines to be kissed with cooling ocean breezes. Clay and unique granite soils create wines unmistakable in the Western Cape.

Soils untilled before 2001 were undamaged by agricultural pesticides and fertilizers, allowing healthy soils to be planted with the most compatible grapes and trained correctly for the different slopes on the property. Plentiful rains in the winter and spring also reduces irrigation to slight or none-at-all.

Jacques Fouche

Jacques has been a keen travel junkie, for as long as he can remember. Having spent his childhood in Namibia, Limpopo province in South Africa (near the Kruger National Park ) and KZN in South Africa and later Cape Town, always been surrounded by nature and beautiful scenery. Qualifying as a safari guide in 1996, Jacques guided over virtually all possible natural eco systems and travelled over hundreds of thousands of kilometers, through all the southern African countries. Later he spent 8 years living and working in Austria, mixing cultural, city and natural scenic travels all across Europe.
