Spookfontein Wines – Breathtaking Views, fine Restaurant and dreamy Cottages

Spookfontein Wines – “Ghost Fountain” Breathtaking Views, fine Restaurant and dreamy Cottages

Spookfontein – Dutch for “Ghost Fountain“. Here, according to local legend, you can see Ghosts dancing in the fog on the farm’s spring. A romantic, mystical place from which to explore the valley between Heaven-and-earth, while enjoying local delicacies and friendly hospitality.

About Spookfontein Wines

With the elevation and location at the head of the Hemel-En-Aarde valley and a rocky terroir, the vines on this farm deliver robust wines. Although the farm covers 313 hectares, only 14 hectares have been planted under vines and olive trees.

Driving up to the cellar, the winding road allows time to slow down and appreciate the surroundings. An abundance of local Fynbos constantly follows you up to the restaurant and cellar door. It is inspiring to see how the architecture has been used to blend into the surrounding environment – a feast for the eyes.

Jacques has been a keen travel junkie, for as long as he can remember. Having spent his childhood in Namibia, Limpopo province in South Africa (near the Kruger National Park ) and KZN in South Africa and later Cape Town, always been surrounded by nature and beautiful scenery. Qualifying as a safari guide in 1996, Jacques guided over virtually all possible natural eco systems and travelled over hundreds of thousands of kilometers, through all the southern African countries. Later he spent 8 years living and working in Austria, mixing cultural, city and natural scenic travels all across Europe.
